Bosnian Muslim flees corruption probe

A prominent Bosnian Muslim who's accused of corruption has fled.

The man, Edhem Bicakcic, is a former prime minister of the Muslim-Croat Federation, and was close to the former Bosnian Muslim president, Alija Izetbegovic.

Mr Bicakcic is being investigated for allegedly diverting thirteen-million dollars of public funds, mostly to his Muslim nationalist party, the SDA.

He was sacked from his current job as head of the Bosnian state electricity company on Friday and banned from public office.

A BBC Correspondent in Sarajevo says that, before the ban was made public, Mr Bicakcic was escorted by police to Sarajevo airport and left the country on a private plane.

He's now said to be in the Croatian capital, Zagreb.
