Central American leaders discuss regional reconstruction
Central American leaders have been arriving in San Salvador, for a meeting on regional reconstruction needs. The aim is to set out the petition for aid that they'll be putting to international donors at a forthcoming summit in Madrid. Funds for the host nation are likely to be a priority following the two major earthquakes to hit the country this year; the Salvadorean government says the costs of reconstruction will exceed two-billion dollars. The president, Francisco Flores, is expected to lobby the US for more aid and immigration concessions when he meets President Bush in Washington later this week.
