Billy Elliott star wins Bafta award

The fourteen-year-old star of the film 'Billy Elliott', Jamie Bell, has won the best actor title at the British film awards, known as the BAFTAs. 'Billy Elliott' -- about a boy from a mining village who defies family prejudice to become a ballet dancer -- also took the award for outstanding British film of the year.

The main award, for best film, was won by Gladiator.

The best actress award went to Julia Roberts, for her title role in Erin Brockovich.

The Chinese martial arts film, 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon', was named best foreign language film and won Ang Lee the title of best director.
