The police are investigating a shooting incident in west Belfast.

A couple escaped injury in the attack on their house off the Falls Road in the city.

They said they were shaken by the incident and had no idea why their house was attacked.

Residents in Nansen Street heard noises shortly before midnight on Saturday and thought there may have been a shooting nearby.

But it was not until Sunday morning that the couple living in the street realised their home had been targeted.

When the man got up at 0800 GMT, he found bullet holes in the front door and living room window.

A lamp inside the house had also been struck.

Police officers searching the scene found bullet cases in the street.
