Earthquake hits Afghanistan, no casualty reports

An earthquake has struck northern Afghanistan, with tremors felt across much of central Asia, and northern Pakistan and India.

Although the quake measured more six on the Richter scale, there has been no immediate word of any casualties.

Reports from the more remote areas near the epicentre are, however, yet to come in.

Geologists say the tremor took place deep underground.

Deep quakes generally cause less damage than ones near the surface.
