Reformist journalist arrested in Iran
The authorities in Iran have arrested the prominent pro-reform journalist, Reza Alijani. In a BBC interview, Mr Alijani's wife said he was arrested under the warrant of Iran's Revolutionary Court. Mrs Alijani said both his office and his house had been searched, and a number of books and scripts had been seized. Mr Alijani was the Editor-in-Chief of the Iran-e-Farda magazine which was banned ten months ago. More than twenty publications have been banned and a dozen journalists jailed in Iran since April last year. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
