Hear'Say have said they always want to sing live

Popstars group Hear'Say have made their live television debut, singing on ITV's Saturday morning show CD:UK.

The group hugged each other after the performance of Show Me The Way to Your Love and were congratulated by the show's hosts Ant and Dec.

The five-piece promised to sing live on the show after miming their way through a recording for Channel 5's Pepsi Chart Show, to be screened next month.

They had previously said they would not mime during performances, but a spokesman said they had been forced to because their backing tracks were not finished in time.

Speaking on the earlier show SM:TV, Kym Marsh, Suzanne Shaw, Danny Foster, Noel Sullivan and Myleene Klass, said the group was called Hear'Say because it tied in with the secrecy that had initially surrounded the band.

"Hear'Say means gossip and everyone was gossiping about who was going to be in the band and it was in the press, so we thought it was appropriate," said Danny.

The group said they could not use the name Popstars because it was the title of the television show and they had also wanted something new.

Speaking about living together, they said it was fun but admitted it was difficult being away from family and friends.

"At the beginning you just wanted to tell your family what you were doing but you couldn't," said Suzanne.

"That took the excitement out of things a bit.

And defending Popstars' judge Nigel Lythgoe - branded nasty Nigel by the tabloid press - they said he was honest and said what most people were thinking.

Myleene said he was just a "drama queen" and Kym called him a "soft puppy".

Earlier in the week Kym Marsh told the NME: "When the other acts are opting out and miming, we always sing live."

However, in the same interview, Myleene Klass added: "If we have to mime, then at least we'll be miming to our own vocals."
