Algeria troops kill 13 militants
Security officials in Algeria say government forces have killed thirteen Islamic militants in a mountainous region in the northwest of the country. A large quantity of weapons and ammunition was reported to have been recovered during the operation. It's the latest in a series of clashes during an offensive launched by the government on militant positions in western Algeria a week ago. More than fifty rebels are reported to have been killed in the campaign. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
