Argentine ships may visit Falklands
Argentina has signed an agreement with Britain ending the ban imposed by London on visits to the Falkland Islands by Argentine aircraft and ships. The ban was imposed nearly nineteen years ago, when Argentina and Britain went to war over the islands. Argentina's foreign ministry said the agreement did not affect its long-standing claim of sovereignty over the islands. Until now, Argentine citizens were allowed to visit the islands, but not Argentine aircraft or ships. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
