Former Indian cricket chief banned
The Board of Cricket Control in India has imposed a two-year ban on its former president, Inderjit Bindra. The board said its ruling was in response to what it termed outbursts against the board and its officials in connection with cricket match-fixing scandals. The suspension was imposed at a special general meeting convened under the chairmanship of the board president, A.C. Muthiah,, which said Mr Bindra had already been warned about his comments. Under the ban, Mr Bindra cannot hold or contest a cricket board office, nor participate in its meetings. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
