Pipe bomb explodes in taxi depot

There has been a pipe bomb attack on a north Belfast taxi depot.

The device was thrown into the depot on Joanmount Gardens and exploded at about 2345 GMT on Thursday night.

No one was injured. There was minor damage.

The police said they do not suspect a sectarian motive for the attack.

'Loyalist' bombs found

Meanwhile, the police discovered five pipe bombs during a search of a laneway in Cloughmills, County Antrim, on Friday morning.

The bombs were found in the Culcrum Road area of the village at about 0700 GMT.

The police are continuing to search houses and the surrounding area.

RUC Superintendent John Bustard welcomed the find.

He said: "I am delighted that we have been able to prevent death and injury by removing them from the hands of loyalist paramilitaries and I would welcome the discovery of these indiscriminate devices."
