Thailand bans British meat imports

Thailand has become the latest country to suspend imports of a range of British livestock and animal products after an outbreak of foot and mouth disease.

A government official said the banned products included pork and lamb.

Earlier today, Singapore suspended British imports of pork, mutton and game meats.

The suspensions follow similar moves by the European Union, the United States, Canada, Japan and South Korea.

Britain imposed its own ban on the export of live farm animals yesterday.

Singapore and Thailand have already stopped beef imports from Britain because of mad cow disease, or BSE.
