Shia local leader shot in Punjab
A district leader of the Shia organisation, Tehreek-e-Jafria Pakistan, has been shot dead in Gujranwala, near the Punjabi provincial capital, Lahore. The leader, Ghulam Shabbir Chauhan, a lawyer, was attacked by two unidentified motorcyclists as he left his home. Five people, four of them Shia Muslims, have been killed in sectarian violence in Punjab, Pakistan's largest province, in the past week. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
