Run the London Marathon
London Marathon
London Marathon
Calling all Marathon runners - this is your last chance to get your hands on a place in the 2001 London Marathon.

Mencap, the learning disability charity has one place to give away in the world's biggest marathon.

The charity will provide all the support and advice needed to ensure you go the distance.

It is offering training schedules, fact sheets, training days across the UK and an innovative internet based runners 'surgery'.

Marathon veterans will be online to give expert answers to any Mencap team members' running queries.

In the average time it takes to run a marathon, five babies will be born with a learning disability in the UK.

Mencap works with people with a learning disability to enable them to make their own choices and lead as full and independent lives as possible.

The charity needs help to continue its work and expand its vital services in housing, employment, education, leisure and one to one support and advice.

Mencap hopes to raise £250,000 through the 2001 race.

The money will be used to expand leisure opportunities for people with a learning disability, helping them get as much out of sport as marathon runners do.

To enter the competition, or find out more about Mencap's marathon programme phone 0845 977 77 79 or email events@mencap.org.uk and answer this question:

How many miles is a marathon?
