Bulger family appeal on killer's release |

| Leon McEwan, who spent two years in the same detention centre as Robert Thompson, has given a tabloid newspaper copies of letters containing threats of violence he alleges Thompson sent him. Lawyers for the Bulger family are calling for the parole board to take the letters into account when deciding on a date for Thompson's release. Robert Thompson's solicitors say it is part of a campaign to vilify him. The BBC's Jane Peel reports. |
