New uprising at Brazil jail

There's been another prison riot in Brazil, in one of the jails whose inmates took part in the largest rebellion in the country's history at the weekend.

Hundreds of inmates at the Pirajui jail in Sao Paulo state took their warders hostage after after being let outside for their daily exercise.

It's not clear whether the prisoners have made any demands.

Meanwhile, one of the Brazilian prison guards' unions is threatening to go on strike because of poor work conditions.

It has warned that prisoners are preparing more uprisings on a still bigger scale.

On Monday, police regained control of several jails in Sao Paulo state, where prisoners had revolted in protest against conditions and transfers. Nineteen prisoners were killed in the mass rebellion.
