Iraq 'punishes' Canada, Poland over raids
Iraq has announced that it is halting imports from Canada and Poland because of their apparent support for the American and British bombing raids on Friday. The Trade Minister, Mohammed Mehdi Saleh, said Iraq imported most of its grain needs from Canada under the UN oil-for-food programme. There has been no reaction from Canada, but a spokesman for the Polish foreign ministry denied Warsaw had expressed support for the attacks. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
