Indian PM visits Indonesia

The Indian Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, is due to begin an official visit to Indonesia later today Wednesday.

He'll be the first Indian leader to travel there in more than a decade.

Mr Vajpayee has just ended a three-day visit to Vietnam.

A spokesperson for the Indian prime minister Brajesh Mishra described the Vietnamese stage of his trip as having gone very well.

But the BBC Hanoi correspondent says it didn't produce much in the way of specific agreements. The two countries signed agreements on nuclear cooperation, tourism and cultural issues.
