Siberian freeze |

| Siberia is experiencing its lowest temperatures for 30 years. Though people there are used to freezing weather, Siberian life is being severely disrupted as thermometers dip to the minus forties and fifties. Hospitals are struggling with hundreds of cases of frostbite, and gas and electricity supplies are failing under the strain. Boris Mamlin, a journalist working in the town of Novosibirsk, spoke to BBC News Online about life in the big freeze:
