Big Breakfast gets band of five
Channel 4's Big Breakfast is to have five hosts when Denise Van Outen and Johnny Vaughan leave the show.

Comedian Paul Tonkinson, Irish TV star Amanda Byram and current co-presenter Donna Air have already been named as three of the team.

Their number will be boosted to five by Melanie Sykes and former Blue Peter presenter Richard Bacon - both have been involved with the show before.

Van Outen and Vaughan front their last programme on Friday. After that, a week of guest hosts will stand in for a week before the new team moves in on 22 January.


Keanu describes drug 'wonder'

Hollywood star Keanu Reeves has both admitted to drug use and described some of his drug experiences as "really wonderful".

The star told Vanity Fair his drug use led to: "Personal epiphanies. About life. About a different perspective."

The 36-year-old told the US magazine he doesn't believe he has any vices: "I don't consider smoking a vice."

Reeves' upcoming films include The Gift, The Watcher and The Matrix 2.


Aniston to star in low budget film

Friends star Jennifer Aniston is reportedly in talks to star in the low budget independent film, The Good Girl.

The film is about a young married woman whose boring life takes a turn for the worse when she starts an affair with a shop worker, Hollywood Variety says.

Shooting is due to start in late spring, after Aniston completes her work on Friends in April.

Aniston's next film role is in Stephen Herek's Rock Star, due out in April.


Diamond's cancer battle becomes TV drama

Journalist's John Diamond's battle with cancer is to become the subject of a BBC drama.

The journalist, who is married to cook Nigella Lawson, has been suffering from the disease for over three years.

He has charted his experiences in a newspaper column and a book.

And last year a play about his illness was produced by writerVictoria Coren.

The TV drama will star Diamond and will be written by Coren.

Diamond was initially diagnosed with throat cancer but the disease spread.


Opera singer in child custody battle

Italian opera singer Fabio Armiliato has alleged that his wife abducted their six-year-old daughter Alessandra and is keeping the child in New York.

The tenor sued his wife in Manhattan federal court on Monday and is seeking the return of the girl.

Armiliato hit the headlines in 1995 when, during a performance of Tosca, an operatic firing squad fired live bullets by mistake, wounding him in the leg.

His wife Irena Zaric-Armiliato who is also a professional opera singer was born in Serbia but became an Italian citizen in 1995.


Indiana Jones whip for auction

Screen legend Harrison Ford has donated Indiana Jones' bullwhip to a charity auction fighting Aids in Africa.

The auction has been organised by actor Liam Neeson, who donated his lightsabre from the film Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.

Among the other celebrity pieces up for grabs are a trademark Sir Michael Caine raincoat from the film Hannah and her Sisters and the outfit worn by Welsh star Catherine Zeta Jones in The Mask of Zorro.

Mel Gibson's sword from Braveheart and Julia Roberts' wedding dress from The Runaway Bride have also been donated.
