Nigerian president ends Iranian visit
Nigeria and Iran have signed several agreements on mutual co-operation on the final day of a visit to Tehran by the Nigerian president, Olusegun Obasanjo. Both countries are members of OPEC the Organisation of Oil Producing Countries and in a final joint communique Mr Obasanjo and his Iranian counterpart, Mohammad Khatami, stressed the need for co-operation between oil producers and consumers to ensure fair prices. The visit comes in advance of an OPEC meeting next week in which members are expected to agree to cut oil output to shore up prices. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
