China rejects Tiananmen claims |

| The Chinese government has attacked the publication in the United States of secret documents that claim to describe in detail the struggle within China's Communist leadership that led to the bloody suppression of the Tiananmen Square demonstrations in June of 1989. In its first official reaction to publication of the Tiananmen papers, China's foreign ministry suggested the documents are a fabrication and called their publication a despicable attempt to cause further disruption inside China.
