Surprise baby for mother-of-two

Linda Bentley went to hospital with a suspected ovarian cyst
A 45-year-old woman has given birth to a boy just 20 minutes after doctors told her she was pregnant.

Linda Bentley, of Darwen, Lancashire, who already has two grown-up daughters, had gone to hospital after a doctor said she may have had an ovarian cyst that required treatment.

Her husband David, 47, said she developed stomach pains on Wednesday but thought at first it was just indigestion and took some tablets.

When the pain grew more serious, she called out a doctor who told her she may have had an ovarian cyst.

We were all stunned and in shock for a while but we have come round to it now and are thrilled

It was only at the hospital that the pregnancy was discovered and Michael David was born, weighing in at 6lbs 4oz.

Mr Bentley said: "Linda had been having really bad stomach pains so we called out the doctor on stand-by.

"He thought she might have a cyst so we took her to Queen's Park Hospital in Blackburn.

"She was examined there and about 20 minutes later the baby was born."

Mr Bentley said: "We were all stunned and in shock for a while but we have come round to it now and are thrilled."

'Over the moon'

The couple also have two daughters, Pauline, 20, and Dawn, 24, who are both said to be "over the moon" at the new and late addition to the family.

Mr Bentley added: "We were expecting some grandchildren soon but we beat them to it.

"It has been chaotic. We have not had too many sleepless nights yet though."
