Malik dropped from Pakistan domestic cricket

The former Pakistani cricket captain, Salim Malik, has been dropped from his domestic cricket team, Habib Bank, in a move which could end his association with the sport.

Malik was banned for life by the Pakistan Cricket Board last May after an inquiry found him guilty of match-fixing.

A bank spokesman Abdur Raquib said Malik had not been considered for the bank's squad for Pakistan's premier tournament for private organisations in accordance with the wishes of the board.

But the bank's squad does include Akram Raza, who was fined but not banned following the inquiry.

Malik is contesting the life ban and his appeal will continue later this month.
