| In the north Indian city of Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh members of religious orders are staging colourful processions as they arrive to take part in the 12-yearly Kumbh Mela, one of the most important events in the Hindu calender. The Kumbhs have grown rapidly in recent years and organisers say this year's event could attract record numbers of as many as seventy million people over the course of the next forty-two days.
