Musharraf signs accords with Syria

The Pakistani military ruler, Pervez Musharraf, has signed several agreements on cooperation with Syria during a visit to Damascus.

The accords cover agriculture, science and technology, and information.

In addition, the official Syrian news agency said Pakistan was extending a loan of ten million dollars to Syria to pay for information technology equipment from Pakistan. The Pakistani leader had talks with the Syrian president, Bashar al-Assad, yesterday at the start of his visit. General Musharraf has now gone on to Jordan where officials say he will have talks on the Middle East peace process as well as military and trade ties.
