Further charge in Bollywood mafia probe
Police in Bombay have arrested a third high-level film executive in their efforts to end alleged organised crime involvement in the industry. Officials say the influential financier, Bharat Shah, has appeared in court and is being held in custody until later this month January 19. They say the police acted after listening to the contents of a secretly-recorded conversation involving a suspected criminal. Mr Shah is a major backer of Bombay films. The co-producers of his latest Hindi-language hit film Chori Chori Chupke Chupke have already been remanded in custody on charges arising from the investigation.
