Polisario say Morocco has violated ceasefire

The separatist Polisario Front is reported to have accused Morocco of violating the ten-year-old ceasefire in the disputed territory of Western Sahara.

The French news agency said the claim was made in a letter to the United Nations mission in the territory.

Earlier the Polisario warned all participants in the Paris-Dakar motor rally to avoid the area, which they are passing through today.

Polisario said the rally was in effect a breach of the cease-fire and that it would resume military operations if its appeal was ignored.

The French minister for sport Marie-George Buffet said the Polisario threat was being taken very seriously.
