Police are investigating the road crash in which the Welsh international footballer, Chris Coleman, was injured.
Chris Coleman was left with a broken leg after the incident in Bletchingley, Surrey, on Tuesday. One eyewitness was reported to have described Coleman's top-of-the-range Jaguar as a "complete write-off" after the accident. A spokeswoman for Surrey police said no comments regarding the incident would be revealed until the investiation came to an end. "With regards to the accident Mr Coleman, captain of the Fulham football team was involved in, investigations are continuing," she said. "No further comments on the investigation or any other aspects of the accident will be made until the investigation is complete."
The Swansea-born star is in a satisfactory condition at the East Surrey Hospital in Redhill where he underwent emergency surgery. Wales player Mr Coleman, who joined Fulham from Blackburn in 1997, was only two miles away from his home in Bletchingley, Surrey when the crash happened. It is thought the player will be out of training for nine months. He will miss Wales's March World Cup qualifiers and Fulham's promotion campaign.
