Aled 'walks on air' to wedding

Singing star and television presenter Aled Jones has married girlfriend Claire Fossett at a ceremony in London.

The former Welsh choirboy became an overnight star singing Walking In The Air, the theme to the animated adventure film The Snowman.

He broke into the charts with the top five single at Christmas in 1985 and he launched a career which saw the schoolboy become a household name.

The BBC subsequently made an album which went on to sell 250,000 copies and started Jones on the road to stardom.

The 29-year-old now hosts the BBC's Songs of Praise and is a presenter on the Welsh-language magazine programme, Heno.

He was born in the village of Llandegfan on the Welsh island of Anglesey.

His agent, Scott Marshall, said the couple have been together for four years.

Mr Marshall said they first met in Blackpool when Aled starred in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Miss Fossett, who is in her mid-20s, is a member of the famous Fossett circus family.

Mr Marshall said Jones had refused offers from magazines which had wanted to cover the wedding.

Aled Jones has amassed several gold and platinum discs for his mass selling records.

The singer has even made a duet with himself.

Jones recorded the first half of his duet for man and boy, called What Can You Tell Me? when he was a young singer.

The recording was then stored away until Jones's voice matured and he became a baritone.

He then recorded the second half. The song was played in Christmas 1995.
