Cold Weather Kills in South Asia
Reports from India say that at least thirty-four people people have died in the state of Utter Pradesh, during unusually cold weather conditions. Dense fog has caused disruption to traffic in several towns and cities, and there have been icy winds and heavy snowfalls in other areas. In Himachal Pradesh and Kashmir water supplies have frozen. In Bangladesh, eight people have died in the frontier districts of Rangpur, Nilpharmari and Kurigram. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
