Shooting at Jamaican hospital

Two people have been shot dead at a hospital in the Jamaican capital, Kingston.

A policeman and the man he was guarding were both killed on Wednesday in a shooting at the Kingston Public Hospital.

Eye-witnesses said hospital staff and patients had to run for cover as a group of gunmen entered the hospital, fired a barrage of shots, and then left.

Jamaica's Health Minister, John Junor, said security at the hospital had been increased.

A BBC correspondent says the prisoner killed was a suspect in a number of murder cases.
