Nepal rally for communal harmony

Hundreds of people have taken part in an opposition rally in the Nepalese capital, Kathmandu, intended to promote communal harmony after an outburst of anti-Indian violence.

The meeting -- described by its organisers, the United Marxist Leninist Party, as a peace and goodwill rally -- was called a week after violent protests triggered by remarks made by an Indian film-star that offended many Nepalese.

The actor, Hrithik Roshan, denied making the comments critical of Nepal but demonstrators have continued targetting Nepalese citizens of Indian origin and people from border regions.
