| For years Iceland has been ridiculed for being overly-cautious for fiercely protecting its livestock against disease, by banning the importation of any kind of animal, and not practising cross-breeding. But now with the beef crisis spreading across Europe the tiny and remote country is more convinced than ever that it has done the right thing and is determined to stick to its rigid policy, regardless of how commercially uncompetitive it may be.
