Nepal PM faces no-trust vote
The Nepalese prime minister, Girija Prasad Koirala, is facing the threat of a no-confidence motion in parliament today, principally over his failure to suppress a four-year Maoist rebellion which has claimed more than 1,500 lives.

The motion was registered last month by a dissident faction within Mr Koirala's own Nepali Congress Party, which has accused him of failing to keep the promises he made on taking power last March - to control corruption and maintain law and order.

The two factions within Congress both say they have a majority of votes.

The BBC correspondent in Nepal says the vote could be cancelled at the last minute, if the factions reach a compromise.
