Doctors in Nicaragua have ended a four-month long strike over pay.

Some two thousand of them agreed to resume work after accepting a pay increase of one-hundred per cent.

They earn an average of eighty dollars a month and had been demanding an increase of one thousand per cent.

Thousands of other medical workers have also agreed to accept pay rises ranging from thirty to fifty per cent.
