China complains at fall in Japanese yen

The governor of the central bank of China, Dai Xianglong, has warned Japan that the fall in the value of the Japanese yen is having a very unfavourable effect on China.

Speaking in Beijing, Mr Dai said the depreciation of the Japanese yen was hitting Chinese exports and the inward flow of foreign investment.

He called on the Japanese government to take stronger measures to support the value of the yen.

The Chinese warning comes after the Japanese currency fell below the rate of a hundred and forty to the dollar -- its lowest in seven years.
