Tom Murphy's colourful language came as he thanked Martin McDonagh for writing The Beauty Queen of Leenane, for which he won Best Performance by a Featured Actor. His Father Ted-style pronunciation of the word with an "e" saved the broadcast from being cut. CBS said the censor had not known the word and so had not pulled the plug on him.
