The Jakarta Post newspaper said the speaker of the provincial assembly, Ketut Saundria, told thousands of demonstrators in Denpasar that all forty-six members had agreed to stand down. Elsewhere, at least ten thousand factory workers in Surabaya are continuing their strike for better pay and working conditions.
