Tens of thousands join Indonesia protests

About twenty thousand people have taken part in protest rallies across Indonesia.

In the city of Surabaya up to ten thousand striking workers clashed with riot police during a demonstration over pay.

On the island of Bali, a peaceful rally by ten thousand students outside the regional parliament demanded the resignation of the local governor.

And in the capital, Jakarta, there were protests outside the justice and interior ministries calling for political reform and the release of all political prisoners.
