Fire at home 'deliberate'
![]() The home was badly damaged in blaze
The fire service has said it believes a fire which badly damaged a home for the elderly in Londonderry had been started deliberately.
Forensic experts are expected to examine the scene on Wednesday. A total of 22 people had to be moved out of the building after the fire was discovered on Tuesday. No-one was hurt in the fire although one woman suffered shock. Assistant Divisional Fire Officer Willie Lynch said early indications were the fire was started by someone burning rubbish. Speaking on Wednesday, he said: "At this stage I have reason to believe that this fire was started by a person or persons. "The fire appears to have started in rubbish to the rear of the premises and that spread on to the roof."
