Morocco pardons criminals as Ramadan ends

Nine-hundred-and-ninety-nine convicted Moroccan criminals have been granted full or partial pardons by King Mohammed to mark the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Over four-hundred of the prisoners will have the remainder of their prison sentences pardoned; the others will have their sentences reduced.

Pardons are traditionally granted by the King of Morocco at Eid al-Fitr, the feast marking the end of Ramadan.
