Dyfed-Powys Police say a 60-year-old woman reported missing from her home on Christmas Day has been found dead at woodland near her home.

Mary Ida Davies was reported missing by her husband Iorwerth from their home at The Anchor near Newcastle on Clun Powys.

Officers said the farmhouse was in isolated area on high moor and forestry.

An extensive search for Mrs Davies took place on the afternoon of Christmas Day involving police, helicopter support units, air ambulance and mountain rescue teams.

Mrs Davies's body was found at 0945GMT on Tuesday in a wooded area 500m from her home by a friend of the family who was searching for her.

Police said there were no suspicious circumstances and added the deceased had been removed to a chapel of rest pending a post mortem examination.

The coroner has been informed as has the next of kin.
