A new president of football's world governing body, FIFA, will be elected later today expected 1200 G at its congress in Paris.
After twenty-four years in charge, Joao Havelange of Brazil is standing down to make way for either Sepp Blatter, the FIFA general-secretary, or the head of the European governing body, Lennart Johansson.
The BBC sports correspondent says the election's divided the football world: North, Central and South America are likely to vote for Mr Blatter, with the bulk of Europe going Mr Johansson's way.
He says Asia and Africa are the key areas where the election will probably be decided
