Results of Sudanese elections expected today

Final results are expected today in Sudan's presidential and parliamentary elections.

Although there were a number of challengers to President Omar Al-Bashir, the election was boycotted by the main opposition parties.

Correspondents say preliminary results show that Mr Bashir is set for a sweeping victory.

Some Sudanese officials have blamed the poor turnout on the holy Muslim month of Ramadan, while other sources have said voters were too disgusted with poor living conditions to bother going to the polls.
