Hampshire police say 31 people have been taken to hospital following a suspected chemical leak at a supermarket.
Police, fire and ambulances were called to the
Sainsbury's store at Hedge End, on the outskirts of Southampton at two minutes
past midnight, following reports of a strange smell.
Night staff complained of headaches and nausea.
They were taken by ambulance to Southampton General Hospital for precautionary checks.
Four people have been detained overnight.
Fire crews at the scene are investigating a possible fault with the refrigeration system.
The police say the store was not open at the time and that there is no risk to the general public.
