The wealth of Wales's culture and traditions are already being taught to the baby son of Hollywood-based actress Catherine Zeta Jones.

Four-month-old Dylan's education in his Welsh ancestry is something of a Christmas present from the Wales Books Council.

It parcelled up a selection of Welsh classics for children to ensure he is aware of who he exactly he was named after - Swansea-born Dylan Thomas.

A spokesman for the Wales Books Council - which aims to encourage people of all ages to read - said presents ranged from nursery rhymes to folk tales.

Looking forward to its celebration of World Books Day on St David's Day - March 1 - the council also enclosed 'Help Your Child Read', published by the Welsh Books Council with the support of the National Assembly for Wales.

The book is used by professionals and parents to encourage reading skills in children.

Catherine Zeta Jones - who married Dylan's father Michael Douglas last month, responded personally and said: "Thank you so much for all the wonderful books.

"I've already begun to share them with my son. While reading to your child is certainly important for their education, it is also a great deal of fun and a fabulous way to bond."
