Balochistan ex-minister released from prison
A former chief minister in Pakistan's Balochistan province, Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi, has been released from prison two months after being detained on allegations of corruption. He opted to pay fifty million Rupeees around 900,000 dollars. A statement by the National Accountability Bureau said that the allegations against him included the mis-use of government funds to develop his farm and a house he owns in Quetta. He was also accused of wrongly sending public office holders on pilgrimages and of misusing discretionary funds. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
