Twenty-four die in Pakistan collision

At least 24 people have been killed and some 40 injured in a road accident in the Pakistani province of Sindh.

The authorities say the accident happened when a bus travelling to Rahim Yar Khan from Sukkur collided with a lorry travelling in the opposite direction.

The number of road accidents has increased recently due to what the authorities say is more reckless driving with people disobeying traffic rules.

However correspondents say that the authorities themselves have been accused by some hauliers organisations of doing little to improve road safety.
