Senior Jew attacked in Moscow
Russian media reports say a senior member of the Jewish community has been beaten up in a synagogue in Moscow. The executive director of the Federation of Jewish Communities, Avraam Berkovitch, who is a US citizen, was reportedly attacked by the security guards at the Moscow Choral Synagogue on Saturday. The reports said he is being treated at an American medical centre in Moscow. There's been no confirmation of the incident. The Jewish Communities Federation covers the former Soviet republics, except the Baltic states. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
